So overall this thing is amazing. Fairly easy to install and looks great. The only downside is the auto tilt feature. Apparently after several conversations with vizio support i found out that the auto feature doesnt work on most Vizio Tvs built over 6 months ago. Wish there had been a disclaimer or warning before i bought but i can still tilt it with the remote so it is what it is. Would have given this a perfect score if i had bought it for a TV from another company.

Overall very cool and affordable mount, but dont buy it for your Vizio Tv.

  2. I’m using this tilt on my new 55″ Samsung LED and I have to say it’s fantastic. There is a template included with the TV for easy installation — so as long as you are somewhat familiar with installing these sorts of things you’re fine. Otherwise I’d say it’s worth it to buy it and pay someone qualified to install it because it’s fantastic (though I really don’t think you need to — the template is pretty “fool proof”). It works simply, you turn on the TV and it tilts out.. you turn it off, it goes back flush with the wall. You simply hook up the provided optical cable to the optical outlet on your TV and you’re in business!

I read some reviews saying that they can’t use the optical outlet for tilt because they need it for their audio — well, if you have a surround sound system (which I assume most people do that spend $$$ on a nice TV and a tilting mount like this) you simply hook the optical cable up to the mount, and then hook another optical cable up from your cable box to your receiver and BINGO you have the tilt working and the audio working ;)

When I had this installed I had a few people in my house doing some work (plumber, painter, electrician) and they all were “wowed” by it — when I told them it was under $150 they didn’t believe me. If you’re looking for a wow factor tilt at a great price, look no further – it’s well worth the money, and the template for installation makes it a breeze.

    ENJOY!

This is a great mount. Easy to install and for the price ($99.99 [...] + free s&h) couldnt pass it up! The only downfall is that it needs the sdpif hookup (optical) to retract into the wall when turned off and tilt back when turned on. My TV has just one optical hook up and I’m using it for the surround sound. So I’m doing without the automatic tilting…but no worries, it comes with a remote!

If you have any doubts…Buy It!!!

A little trickier to install than anticipated. Mount and bracket sit almost flush against the wall. House was built prewired for wall mounting TV. Wall mount motor covered the outlet initially. Had to move outlet placement and file down the edges of the black wall plate at old outlet location because the quarter inch plate did not allow for enough clearance for bracket to latch on to the mount.

Instructions come with a poster showing wall mount size. Be sure to measure placement of mount not only against the wall, but the bracket/motor placement against the TV you’re installing. Place brackets, especially the one with the motor, against the wall prior to installation to determine if there are any spacing issues.

Once install was complete, operation is a breeze. Clean look and automatic tilt when turning on TV is a nice touch that gives the appearance of a professional install.

When I first saw this product I thought “really?…how lazy must you be to have this?” I recently mounted a tv above a fireplace mantel and realized this was the perfect product for this application. Turn the tv on and it automatically tilts into the proper position for viewing, turn it off and it goes back flat against the wall, hiding all the cables neatly behind the tv. One minor drawback to the mount is the automatic function woks by sensing audio output from the tv’s optical digital output. If you have a home theater system set-up and want to use the optical out from the tv for an input for the theater system you’ll either have to get a splitter or buy a tv with 2 optical outputs. That is the one and only minor downside I’ve found with this mount. The only other thing worth mentioning, which may be obvious to many who read this, the motor and controler for the mount are inside the mounting rails which limits where electrical, cable, and home theater outlets/wiring can come through the wall. With a little bit of planning this shouldn’t be a problem. Overall I’m am very pleased with this mount and wouldn’t hesitate to buy another one or recommend one to my clients in the future.
